Recent developments with the COVID-19 pandemic and the recurring restrictions on larger gatherings and international travel has again increased the uncertainty for travel in the near future. Now that November is soon to be “in the near future” we, the Organizing Committee, have decided to take preventive steps and are hereby announcing a further postponement of the joint meeting of the 21st Nordic Conference on Forensic Medicine (NCFM) and the 6th Annual Meeting of the Nordic Association of Forensic Toxicologists (NAFT).
The new dates are May 10th-12th, 2021 and our plan for a two and a half day conference stands, closing the conference at 11:30 on Wednesday the 12th.
This decision was not an easy one to make. The health and safety of everyone involved is our priority and we believe that postponing the event until next spring is the best solution.
We have already, and happily so, put a lot of effort into planning the conference and will continue to do so. We will strive towards ensuring that the program will have only minimal revisions and that all the speakers will retain their already allocated slots. And rest assured, after planning, postponing and with all your support and understanding, we will put our hearts into making the conference in Reykjavik in 2021 a truly memorable event.
We sincerely hope that you understand and agree with our decision. We acknowledge that for some of you, the new date may not be ideal, but we hope that you will be able to attend the conference.
And last but not least, the Organizing Committee sends their heartfelt support to all those affected in one way or another by COVID-19.
Best regards from the Icelandic organizing committee.
Pétur Guðmannsson, Svava Þórðardóttir, Kristín Ólafsdóttir, Ásdís Elva Aðalsteinsdóttir.
